Older Cakewalk Software

I also posted this on the digital recording group, but I wanted to ask Cakewalk users directly.

I use a Korg D16 to record, but I recently upgraded my computer and I want to play around just for fun with the old computer (don't want to use the new computer for audio). Anybody know if there is an older Cakewalk "pro" level program that will run on an old Pentium 133? The machine has two 2.1 gig drives, a soundblaster 64 card and 64 meg ram. Anybody know a reliable source for older software.

Thanks

I have a Pentium 166 w/56mb ram and I use Cakewalk Pro Audio 8.01. It works, although as you can guess, I'm limited to about 12 tracks of audio before it starts stuttering on playback. I can't really use any realtime effects either, because it just locks up. But you can surely get your feet wet in Cake with your machine. Will at least give you an idea of what it's like. E-mail me and I can suggest a source for an older version.

There are many more qualified to comment on this one but
I used to have Cakewalk 5 and it allowed six tracks on a 486 but I added a new UltraIDE 6gig HD. Yet it wouldn't work on a friends 166. I suspect that the main problem with older computers is the hard drives. Perhaps if you update to a new series HD you will get much better results.
cheers
John :)
