hey, my uncle has an old Yamaha bass amp, and it sounds like crap. the thing is, i don't really think it's supposed to sound like crap, so i'm assuming something might be wrong with it. the model is B100-115 II, it's a 100 watt (i'm assuming) 1X15 combo amp from circa 1980. it's also big and ugly. for one thing, pretty much all the knobs on it are scratchy, and the sound coming out is just 'not right'. i'm thinking about opening it up and poking around under the hood to see if theres anything i could do to make it sound better, or at least clean out the pots and see if it will sound less scratchy. i tried looking on google for a schematic, but haven't been able to find anything. any ideas where to look, or what i could possibly do with this amp?

this would just be for fun, it's an amp my uncle's had around the house for some time now, and nobody really uses it, but we're thinking of fixing it up just to use at home as a practice amp for the jam sessions he sometimes has at his house. are good 15" bass speakers expensive? i might just throw a good replacement speaker in there also since it probably wouldn't hurt any, right? so...any ideas or suggestions?

 :D

worst amp I ever owned! I bought mine in mint condition for $100 10 years ago . I gave it away to a neighbor that uses it to broadcast spooky sounds on halloween.

haha! so maybe there's nothing wrong with it? its just that bad....

so do you think there's no hope for it? maybe we can use the speaker cab and stick a different amp section in there haha.
