Hey everyone!

This is an old song of mine that we recorded yesterday. The vocals will be redone definately, it's just a scratch track for them. Oh, and it's important to know that we went out to tape and back into PC to make the MP3 off of, I think there's a little tape flutter in there.

The recording chain is completely different for me on this one. We used MOTU Digital Performer3 on a Mac, the electric guitars are a PRS CE22 and a Gibson SG with P90's...all on a Pod Pro, the bass is a '77 P-Bass...also on a Pod Pro. Drums are an Alesis D4. Acoustic guitar and vocal is an AT 4033 thru a Focusrite Red7. Keyboard sounds are still the trusty Roland JV1010.

Tell me what you think!

The song is "She Looks To Heaven"

it sounds like it wants to have that "hotel california/eagles sound" and is kinda locking me in wanting to hear it in that light too. For a lack of better words, the mix sounds a little "thin" to me....lacking some *beef.* I like the song very much and the singing style is going to suit it great. also the elec gtr...and the gtr tremelo too.. nice touches. great solo break. maybe another snare choice on the DM4 might be nice too....something a little more unique, I guess is what I am saying. I wanna hear some thick Eagles bg vox too...you're gonna add some more...eh? nice high parts...??

nice tune....

Great work H2H!

I particularly liked the ride cymbal sound. Been trying to get that sound on tape a long time. And the vibrato on the guitar. Very cool.

Guitar work excellent. Vocal excellent.

Kick drum and bass could be stronger to my ears. But you said it was a work in progress.

Like it a lot, going back to listen to other songs you have posted.

btw, nice web site. All but the popups. lol

Just a hint of sibilance on that vocal.
The mix seems to be lacking in low end, like it's been filtered out.
This affects mostly the drum sound. The bass suffers as well.
They're both "there" but not rocking the house like their job description would imply. :)
This from the spectrum analyzer in Winamp backing up what my ears hear thru the monitors.
Those PODs do the job here for sure!
OK here's a personal comment- I think the acoustic guitar should sound more acoustic.
Nice song though. An Eagles reincarnation by the next generation.

Thanks for listening!
Wow, the Eagles refrences really threw me for a loop..I have never thought of my stuff sounding like them. But I like them, so thats cool!

I agree with what's been said so far. The vocal will be redone (and re-redone:)) and we will be adding background vox also, when my other singer gets her tail up here! Also, the way we're putting this together, we are doing drum machine for the 25 songs we are submitting..then after we narrow it down to whats going on the album, we are adding live drums in the appropriate songs..this will have live drums eventually. Just trying to shave some $ this way.

I also hear the missing low end...That may have been a product of the Mac to tape to PC transfer. But the kick wasnt very strong to begin with...I agree 100% there.

This is the first time I have ever recorded with a Pod. As a tube amp NUT, I have to admit I was very very suprised from the sound we got from the Pod Pro. I found it just takes one guy playing the guitar, and one guy messing with the settings to get it just right.

Acoustic sounding more acoustic, hmmm...I'll have to work on that! I usually cheat and use my Fishman piezo pickup:)...but in this case we actually mic'd the guitar instead (AT4033). Maybe we can try some other mics and see what happens there.

Thanks for the comments, they REALLY help me out!!!

I thought for sure that the acoustic was the direct pickup. oops.

Nope, a good 'ol AT4033 through a Focusrite Red7 preamp. The mic was about 9-12" from the soundhole and the guitar is a Martin DM.
Thanks for listening!
