hello
I wan to make a song I'm working on sound like an old record - whats the best way of going about it?

I'm using audacity so I can use VST plugins. Would that be best or should I just use a record noise sample and loop it in the background. I also gotta have the noise of the needle dropping on the vinyl at the beginning. Any suggestions?

You're in luck, there's an awesome free vst plugin called Isotope Vinyl ... do a search for it.

Other than that, you could always sample record noise from a record player...there's always some space between songs and at the beginning and end of the album that's just noise.

It's just funny to hear, while everyone wants to get rid of those noises, you tend to have it in your record :D :D :D

Anyway, Izotope Vinyl will work for you fine :) Like Slack mentioned, it's free VST, just google it :)

Has to be one of the "top five" useful free VST's imho. Its rare to find one that does its job so well.

I got Izotope Vinyl. It seems pretty shweet, but it is a directx plugin - not VST. It doesnt show up in audacity. Is there a freeware program out there that uses dx plugins or a different VST plugin that might work?
