Ok...it's been about 11 years since I've been here!! Yes, I have been out of the game that long. Anyway, thinking about pro tools. I guess my major question is how and the heck to you connect all your connections to your computer? Normally( back in the analog days using ADATS) I'd have my drums mic'd up with 8 mics and each mic on individual channel. I keep seeing use and MBOX but not sure it it accepts this many inputs.

Also, I know there is a mixer built into pro tools..still love the wow factor of seeing a mixing board you can touch and feel. Do the new digital mixers integrate with PT so use can mix off the board instead of your computer?]

Thanks!!

Ah yes something here that I finally know the answer to XD

all the microphone connections (XLR,1/4in.) would go into an audio interface (like the mbox) and that would connect to your computer via usb or firewire.

I dont know much about the mbox but im sure they make one big enough for 8 inputs

and they make control surfaces for mixing and I think some digital mixers are compatible with it

When shopping for an audio interface, a few things you need to keep in mind.
1. How many discrete inputs does it have.
2. How many of these inputs have gain gain stages.
3. How many discrete outputs ( should you want to re route to an outboard mixer ).
