I just got my DSP24 & ADC&DAC2k setup Sunday. So far, I'm loving it, except for a couple of very minor issues.

The external links deal is kicking my butt. I'm only going ot be using a pair of speakers out from the 1/2 outputs on the box (at least, I hope I can do that) or the headphone jack to monitor my recording and whatnot. My problems are, though:

a) unless the Output 1,2 is linked to the Ext. Mixer, I can't hear anything.

b) I can only record out of the odd numbered channels, it seems, and only if I connect them to the Output 1,2.

I'm supposed to be multitracking here, so how come I only seem to be able to record one channel at a time? I know I've got to be overlooking something here...You've used this setup for a while with pleasing results, so I'm sure you've got some insight. Please help me.

Thanks in advance,

Hello,

I haven't used my setup for some time as I haven't had access to a decent computer, only a laptop, so I cannot try your configuration. However, I had my external links set up in the simplest way possible and I got full duplex on all eight I/O.

DAC 1,2 output -> Wave out 1,2
DAC 3,4 output -> Wave out 3,4
etc.
ADC box in 1,2 -> Input 1,2
ADC box in 3,4 -> Input 3,4
etc.
ADC box midi -> DSP24 midi 1 and 2

I never used the S/PDIF bracket or the external mixer.

The inputs should show in your recording software as 'ADSP24 Ext. WaveIn 1/2' to 'ADSP24 Ext. WaveIn 7/8' and the outputs as 'ADSP24 Ext. WaveOut 1/2' to 'ADSP24 Ext. WaveOut 7/8'

You cannot connect a pair of speaker to the outputs unless they're powered. The outputs are line level and thus not suitable for driving speakers directly. I used my regular hifi reciever as power amp, which of course wasn't optimal but it works until you can afford, and need, a dedicated monitor amp.

I hope this helps. If not, check out the Q&A site over at http://www.hoontech.com You can often get good answers from other users there.

Good luck
