i was saving a song as a bundle, and then sonar decided to crash. now when i try to open the file it says its not a valid format.

is there anything i can do or am i completely screwed?

it crashed while it was 76% done the updating events part....

if anyone has any tips i'd be very greatful...

i know i can get all the tracks from the audio data folder, but that would mean endless hours of piecing 20 tracks back together from one 48 minute wav....

anyone?

rash can be caused by many factors... corrupt wave file on certain tracks, plugins failure, envelope, etc...

Just use the search function with key word "crash" (without " ") in Cakewalk forum... You'll find many articles could be similiar to yours being solved :) Hope yours soon :)

okay, so i managed to track down what is causing the error.

i was able to piece back my file from a slightly out of date backup file and the audio data... just a matter of finding what was missing and putting it back into place.

then later on when i was editing something, i used the time stretch plugin and i got the same error as before.

so i loaded it up again, did some more editing, saved a few times successfully, then i needed to stretch a note in one of the tracks. it stretched fine, but then when i tried to save it i got the same crash again!

so i guess that means i've narrowed it down to that plugin, which i will simply avoid using unless anyone has any suggestions.

We have a theory (Moskus & I), that if you rename the Cakewalk Bundle File to .wav then try and open it, you will get all your wave files lined up in the one track....

This is only in theory... and if it is true we will let the author of Sonar Power! know so he can update his book (that project per-folder is the best way to save projects!!)

If you could let us know how you go,

man! where were you yesterday!

haha, okay i'll give that a try next time something like this happens.

Yesterday.... 30 Klm's from home down in Canberra....

Actually, I think it was some PA8 user a looong time ago who told me this. I had a corrupt bundle, never managed to open it. I renamed it to wav and got all the audio back. Problem is, though, you need to do all the arranging yourself. But if you've been a good tracker, then it's just a couple of days work... :D

And it will be a stereo-track... :p
