It's Too Funky in Here!!!
Do you think rack rails for a Tascam 38 (34/32) are worth $95 (new) ???;)

Yeah, that's what I thought too,... but did you know...

I priced these out about 5 years ago directly thru TASCAM, and they wanted $60 for a set (plus shipping),... so the EBAY/BIN of $95 (delivered) is nearly a 50% markup, but somehow doesn't seem that outrageous,... especially if you're really bent on rackmounting the ol' 38.

Still, $95's cost prohibitive for 2 bent pieces of metal, judging that I've posted this question at all and not just popped for it outright!;)

I wonder if I could get some generic angle-iron from the electronics shop, and just adapt it myself. That's gotta be cheaper!

That was my reaction when a pair of TSR-8 rails went over £40 a couple of years ago. I bought a pair of soundcraft rails for about half that and drilled new holes into it (badly).
For the second deck, I got some generic rack strips. Not pretty, but it does work.

Thanx Herm!

Rails and a faceplate is at least a value-add on the deal!

I'll bookmark this item next time out!

Thanx again!;)

Dave,
You can go to Lowes or Home depot and buy pre-drilled angle metal in about any length, and they work great. I estimate you will spend less than 15 bux for it. It's shiny, so buy a can of flat black spray paint and paint it!
