Okay guys i got a problem

Well i was recently recording with a cheap radio shack mic and
using the mic in on the soundcard..well i've updated and i got
a SP-B-1 and a vtb pre amp... The problem that i have really is
bothering me because i don't understand it at all. I'm recording
in Acid 4.0 and the recordings come out fine and then i render them at 128kbs and first i try them out in music match..(they sound very good and the same as in acid) then when i upload them onto soundclick or nowhereradio... u can't hear my vocals anymore!!! I have no clue what is happening ? I had other people try them and they get the exact same thing. So what could my problem be coming from? I've tried turning the vocals up a good bit and when they are uploaded u still can faintly hear them...it almost sounds like they are getting a cancellation from some where...if anyone has had this prob or could help me it would be very much appreciated... thanks

Phase cancellation sounds like the culprit.... do you have a sample of the clip? I'll download it and let you know if you've got cancellation or comb-filtering issues.......
 
im not really sure

but could it have something to do with going from stereo to Mono anywhere in the process? Anything that was out of phase in stereo would "disappear" in mono. just a thought

I just pulled all of them off because i was trying different
things...thank you..i'll have them up in a few secs

question too....this is really frustrating.

ok i see that bruce "blue bear"

has stepped in, so i will shut my mouth now and step out of the way of someone with real knowledge.
 
The problem is whatever effect or processing you did on the vocals.... when you collapse the mix to mono, the vocals cancel themselves out.

Sounds like you used a "faux stereo" effect on them that fakes stereo by using EQ and playing with phase....


Before you finish a mix, do a quick mono check to ensure you don't have any phase-related issues in your track.
 
Well i didn't use

any effect on those particular one...normally i use a compressor
but i didn't use them because i got the new mic and didn't need
to beef them up at all...i wonder if this has anything to do with going into the xlr input instead of the 1/4 inch? man i dunno it's just making me go crazy..thanks blue bear for the tips
 
something along those lines

it's not soundblaster but it is the stock sound card for the system.
but like i said i don't understand how it sounds fine when i render
it and it plays fine in music match and windows media but then
when i upload it it theres nothing...

You definitely used an effect on the vocal, because it is distinctly split on each channel.... eithe ryou used an effect, or you duplicated the track and delayed one from the other. The offset you did was enough to cause a significant phase-shift, enough to cancel the vocal out when it gets summed to mono (even if you narrow the L/R panning, or another way of looking at it is increasing the L+R component - which conversion to MP3 can do...)

I understand what your saying blue bear but at the same time
i don't know how to fix it? I tried just uploaded the accapella
of the track and the voice sounded like it was going crazy almost alien like..i'm sorry to be so annoying about this but I have no clue what to do..

I'm pretty sure i figured out what was wrong....
I was using a tip ring sleeve plug(1/4 balanced) going from my pre amp to
the sound card.. when i should have been using a tip sleeve
plug.(unbalanced).i'm almost positive this is the cause of all this madness..
But thanks for everyone's help in the matter..

Sorta. The input on your soundcard is a mini TRS stereo plug. You need to get a TRS to Dual mono TS cable (often called an insert cable) and use that. Just plug one of the TS ends into your preamp.
