I am working on my control-vocal room trying to figure out where to put my bracing for my flush mounts before I drywall. I figured it out, I THINK ?.

I am raising my proto-Js about 5" to reduce reflections off my mixing table. This will cause me to kick the bottom of my soffet in about 6" so they will point down to my mix position. They will be 5'6" apart and mounted in 3/4" chip board which will be well braced.

Please check out the attached rough draft and tell me what you think.

larrye,

I don't know what file format that attachment is, but for some reason my PC didn't like it, was unable to open it and locked up. Could you convert it to a jpeg file. They are usually more easily accepted.

I know it's a bmp., but it may be a specific type of bmp. file that conflicts with some graphics software.

Worked for me larrye - that looks oK - watch Guruland - I'm about to do the same ;)

cheers
John

John,
Out of curiousity, what graphics type software are you running? I have Adobe, Corel and MS PhotoDraw.......these cover most graphics file formats by default.........If larrye's attachment is from CAD style software, then that could explain my inability to open the file.

Ausrock - FWIW, it opened on my PC/windows under paint.

Kevin.

Larrye - once again, we seem to be doing the same thing :) Though I have been considering something more like the attachment rather then sloping the entire wall. I'm planning on putting in bass traps below the speakers on the vertical portion of the wall.

Kevin.

ausrock,

Sorry the attachment doesn't work for you. I used paint. I would be glad to convert it, if I knew how. If you save it as jpeg, will windows go ahead and convert it?

Larry

Your 19 year old boy still making music?

John, what's Garuland?

Larrye,
The file conflict isn’t worth worrying about.

Yes, my son is definitely still playing………hopefully in the next few months, I will have the room treatment, the patchbay wiring and other stuff to a level that we will be starting to get serious about recording the project he is involved with.

The attached pic is of him a few months ago with just some of the gear I have to accommodate in the studio as it comes together.
