Ok, I Need Help...badly!!!!!

I had all my recording equip in my storage...the kind U rent.
Someone robbed it, thus all my equip is gone.

So I gotta buy new equip...

Whats the best mic and pre I can get for $1,000 or under?
 
I hope the insuranse check comes soon but Id hold out for that SP that steven Paul is designing. a few C4s and some 57s and a kick mic.

then get an Yamaha MLA7 8 channel pre for 500 at musicians friend ( this is a gem). and a Roland MMP-2 for the other 2 channels on an aardvark 10 setup.

You are posting so I guess your computer is still with you but you will need a new hard drive like an 8mb cashe 7200 rpm and max out ram and upgrade all you can.
 
I'd say go to Guitar Center ASAP and try to get the $119 deal on a DMP3 like others have done in the past few days (check the "Rack" forum for the posts about it). You can also get an Oktava MC-012 SD condenser for $75 at GC right now. I don't know if you need an SD, but at that price it's a steal!

Others would say the FMR RNP is a better pre, but it's also $475 or so! That's why it's a no-brainer!
 
get that $119 DMP3 deal with a Marshall MXLv67G for $99 and youll be in bidness..........
 
You really need an 8 channel pre if you wish to record drums. thats why I would still reccomend the Yamaha, but the MC012 is a bargain right now, I would go for them instead.

A simple 2 channel will not put you in buisness unless if you play with yourself like Gidge.:D
 
I wont be recording any isntruments at all.

Just male R&B + Rap vocals
