Does the ohm's of the cab I have to match the head? What are the different ohm's and why do they matter?

Peter

Yes, they do need to match at least closely. Ohms are a measurement of impedance, and while it can get tricky when you deal with changing loads, in practice it's pretty simple, just plug 4 ohm outputs into 4 ohm cabinets, and 8 ohm outs into 8 ohm cabs. For better information, google, "Ohm's Law" to learn how this works. In the meantime, match your amp's output to the speakers, or suffer from bad sound at least, and blown transformers at worst.

I just got a Crate GC 130C Head and it has Stereo output 65 watts per channel at 4 ohms. Since this is stereo output I am assuming I would need a cab with 2 mono inputs at 4 ohm each, correct?

Anyone use this head?

Peter

I believe you are right. I don't use that amp, so I can't give you a definitive answer, though.

Is that a "TRUE" stereo output on the amp or is it simply a parallel output? If it's a parallel out then simply match the amp impedance switch to match the cab.

I couldn't find much info on that amp, you might check your owner's manual or give the company a call.
