I have a Soundtracs Solo 24 mix console that died about 6 months ago. Last week I finally got enough cash and time together to have it repaired. I took it to a very reputable electronics repair shop here in Atlanta. The diagnosis was that the transformer had finally gone out (as I suspected). After checking around they were unable to find an exact replacement so they told me that they would have to modify one and do a custom installation. I agree to this and they begin the work that day.
A week passes and they call me to notify me that the board is ready. I go to pick it up and to my horror....... They have adapted my board to an external 3 rack space Behringer Eurodesk power supply. Someone shoot me now.
The board is working and sounding great again but the psu is bulky, takes up even more space and most importantly, it is behringer. Why god why?

Dude, I have that same board and the exact same thing happened to me.
A direct replacement isn't going to be easy to find, but Part's Express 122-615 ($41.60) is a very close replacement for the main power. You'll have to get a separate transformer for the phantom power.
Though, with that transformer you have to shave about 1/8" off of the master section PCB with a dremmel.

However, the Behringer PSU should be just fine. I would just paint it. Besides, an external PSU keeps heat away from the console, and lessens inducted noise.

How much did that job cost you?

I have 2 boards (one is a Soundracs Solo MIDI 16, btw) with irreplaceable PSU's and I'm always a bit nervous about them. Especially the Solo as its my remote and live board and moves around a bit.

Take care,
Chris

This shop's analog rate is $75.00 per hour. I ended up spending $350 with parts and labor. I only paid $600 (shipped) for the board about 3 years ago so I had to really weigh out if it was worth repairing it or just buying another. I opted for the repairs since all of my channels/faders/busses etc....were in great shape on this one.

Are those Soundtracs Solo's worth anything? Because there is one for sale here locally for $150.
