I just realized that my old winman 2x2 midi card is an ISA card. The new machine I’m building doesn’t have any ISA slots on the mobo (obviously). I don’t see an PCI midi cards out there. Does that me an I need to go to a USB midi interface? Do these work pretty well?

My 1010lt has 1x1, but I kind of wanted to have at least 2x2 so I could leave my keyboard & POD connected – so this isn’t life threatening, but still… :D

I'm still using my 2 x 2 parallel port MIDI controller.

Once I switched to a USB printer the port was there but unused.

Thanks guys. I just needed a little reassurance. I think I’ll have to wait awhile to get the midisport until my credit card cools off :D. But that looks like the way to go.

Thanks!! :)

USB MIDI interfaces have timing issues due to the communication's protocol USB interfaces use.

Either make sure you're buying a USB MIDI interface that addresses this problem or stick with a Parallel port type interface.

Is anyone still making pci/parallel midi cards?
