I just installed XP - and Cubase VST/24 Version 3.7 and Mona.

I'm trying to get some kind of sound out to my PC but can't.

Anyone give me some sort of clue as to how to move forward?

I have a mic plugged in to Mona Input 1, Analog Inputs 1 and 2 and Digital Outputs 1 and 2 enabled on the Console.
The digital out is correctly connected from Mona to the CPU.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

foo

Hey Foo, I don't use Cubase but do use a mona sound card. I have no problems with using it with cooledit.
Maybe you need to asign the inputs and outputs in cubase. I have to do this in cooledit if I want to record anything. In fact I have to asign the 4 inputs to 4 separate tracks to record all 4 anlog inputs. But thats typical of all sound cards. I gessing its probly a Cubase setup problem.
By the way the gain knobs on the front of my mona are starting to crackle up a bit. Probly from over use though. I now have an Alessis A13 adat 8 channel rack converter box that I conect to the mona through its adat optical ins and outs. Which gives me 12 chanels all up now. And I find that the mackie vlz pre's through the A13 converters has a better sound than the mona's. I'm not saying the mona's not good. It is. I like it. Its very convenient to just be able to plug "anything" into one of the mona's front universal channels and start recording. I use them for when I'm writing. Probly why there cracking up. When I record seriously, I go through the A13 and my VCQ6. The mona is now for the most part just an interface for my A13.
BTW, I was quite impressed with the analog inputs on the mona at first. And on paper the mic pre's and converters are pretty good. Just that now when I go back to them ocasionally, I just find them a tiny bit dull. Thats mainly when I plug a 57 into it. But when I plug a nice valve mic into it, it sounds awsome. You've bought a good sound card that has more convenience than any other rack mount card out there. Most others have adat lightpie and spdif but dont have the 4 universal analogue inputs with good meters like the mona.

u need to upgrade ur software i'm not sure cubase 3.7 even works wit XP...u can upgrade to Cubase SX or crossgrade to Sonar 2.0 which costs like 80 bucks

Foo,

I would start by making sure you can record via another (simpler) program first, to make sure the card is working correctly. Make sure you've selected "line in" from your windows mixer.

I used to use Cubasis VST24 back in the day, but I believe you can select Tools, VST Inputs and select the channels you want to record to. I also remember something about MultiRecord if you're trying to record more than 2 at a time (that may be VST 5+ only - not sure).

If you're still not working, you might need to go into the ASIO control panel, and try to re-autodetect.
