Hey guys,

I just finished putting up a second version of Officer Mean last night after all the good input I got on the first version.

It's not band approved, it's more something I took upon myself. I activated the download just in case you want to burn a copy to hear on other systems.

The compression is still questionable, but I'm starting to get used to it. What I really did there was trigger (via key inputs) the compressors on the guitars to the kick track of the drums. But only enough to get some lite pumping going on.
Officer Mean

List of changes are as follows:

-Metal drum pattern was altered during the intro
-Uneeded guitar fiddly bits where simplified during the breaks
-The breaks where modified in hopes of better flow. Shaker track added in trying to get a supporting rhythm going on in those parts (I'm probably going to rework that, sounds kind of cheesy).
-Electro FX modified for the second prechorus, removed for the first. (kick and scream...let me out)
-Reprogrammed the drum pattern towards the end of the bridge (in a jimmy eat world kina way) to setup for the last chorus. Keep in mind, these are still live drums. No samples.
-Snare up 2db during choruses

Again, I really appreciate the extra set of ears and input. (Good insight ray and bob)

I'm a little confused by that statement. My girlfriend and I were trying to pick out what we thought about the drums in particular. Not really sure now after reading that.

Overall seems like a good mix though, but maybe absent a little high-end. Very tight though. The vocal seems to live slighty in the same range as something else (guitar maybe?) and maybe competes a little too much. Mostly for my girlfriend though who is sitting slightly off center atm. We enjoyed the tone of your voice though.

Reminds me a little of 311...maybe with a Splash of They might be Giants.

I liked Officer Mean a lot!! I thought is sounded a little like a group called Alkaline Trio, the vocals on it did anyway. I also checked out Digital Killed Retro. I liked that very much as well. That reminded me of some 311 sound, the vocals very much so, sure you name isn’t Nick Hexum?? Both tracks are very good!!

I like the changes especially with the metal drum patterns. They seem to add more to the mood now. The snare now sounds a little too loud in the chorus, maybe cut back a db? The 2nd guitar or bottom end at 45 - 50 secs totally buzzes out my little speakers when played on them but sounds ok on the cans. It also does it at 1:39 - 1:53 but not as bad. Didn't bother to download it to my other system because you need to get by the little speakers first :) Overall better flow, keep up the good work!
