.....this one will be the most recent.

I just finished this and threw it up on my page. For some reason, it was the hardest tune I've ever mixed of mine. I hope it sounds ok. Any comments and suugestions? Thanx.

WRITING ON THE WALL

Nice guitar tone right away, slick.... :D

Good tune. Nice feel. Lyrics seem to flow effortlessly.....really sound good. (the words). Nice vox man....as always. I really like the way the words flow.....Damn, I need to learn to really sing...

Good tune man...all parts have some really cool sounds, and fit together well. Slick, without being overly polished. Great mix man.....everything is sounding really good. What can I say? Most excellent tune man....

WRITING ON THE WALL

Hey RAMI,

I like the vocals on this tune! The guitar tone is very fitting for this tune, I don't know what to say about the guitar tone apart from that I like it!!

The bass playing and the bass line is good also!

If I could suggest anything at all RAMI, it would be to give the kick a bit more thump, But I am listening at work on my pc speakers so I could be full of it!

I like it RAMI........"Dirty Water" is still my favourite!

"Dirty Water just won't go away"..... :D

Thanx for sharing RAMI!!
Gorty :)

This reminds me of an Auzzie act called Midnight oil with a hint of ELO.

I`m not crazy about the guitar sound, at the moment I cant put my finger on it, it just sounds a bit to clean I supose.
This is just on the first listen.

The vox seem a little unsecure at the first lines, dont get me wrong I dig the tune, you`ve just been spoiling us lately.

I really loved the Brigde thing you had in there, it was as if Jeff Lynne came knockin.

I think the mix is good, my only nit as mentioned is the guitars who need some dirt. IMHO.

Great work again. :)

Thanx alot guys.

Nak, I have to say that this was my hardest song to mix. Not because it's so complicated, but I really had to re-mix and re-mix until I had something I liked. I know I spent alot of time on the guitars because I couldn't use too dirty a sound on the picking part, yet I wanted some balls, not a clean part. I might re-do the guitars and see how they are a little ballsier. Thanx alot for the comments, guys.

Of all the songs I've ever heard...of Rami's...I got nothing...they're all great.

I do like the tone of the guitars (sorry Nak). They are clean but with a bit of bite and I think they suit the song well.

Cool arrangements (Nak is right) and I like the way it gets real mellow there for a bit....like an Alice Cooper vibe.... :)

Another great tune....downloaded... along with your cool latin rock tune with Tim.....

RAMI, Killer song man! This is the second song I've heard from you and the second song I've liked! You're 2 for 2 with me keep it up :-).

Great mix, instrument work, vocals, lyrics AWESOME bridge I was groovin' to it!

I also agree with Dogman's comment, the lyrics flow effortlessly. Diggin' it man, good stuff

A nice song indeed, RAMI.

But I still noticed some things I would have liked differently. First, the drums are too loud in the beginning of the song, IMO. Then there is a telephone-sound vocal later in the song. This vocal doesn't have enough high end to really be intelligible. I'd just change the cutoff frequency a bit.

The ending of the song sounds slightly odd with the drums keeping a tempo while especially the vocal is slowing down, sounds 'mistakey' to me.

But my major complaint (and you're going to see how minor it really is) is in the playing of the bass guitar. There are several spots, where there are notes ringing that shouldn't be there. I don't know if it's just plain mistakes or sympathetic vibrations, but I think you could do something about it by going in and doing some cuts or fade outs to it.

But all in all, very nice work!

Another killer song Rami and so true it is. The beginning is strong but it was the second guitar that hit me hard. You might want that impact later on and use a couple rests for dynamics. Love the plosions. Wanna tell us all how you get them? :)

Thanx for the honest advice, guys, that's what I need.

Nessbass, I'll solo that bass track when I get home and see if there are some overtones or something ringing. I know that in the intro and the choruses, the guitar is playing an A7 at one point while the bass is going down to a G. I wonder if that sounds "wrong"...But I'll definitely listen for it later.

NYMORNINGSTAR, I might have brought that second guit in too soon, huh? You may be right. I might not have left the verse enough time to establish itself sort of thing.
(By the way, I got your mix for my tune. I've been having MusicPlayer problems on my PC, so I haven't been able to listen to the last 3 mixes. Should have it fixed later today)

I don't think that there are false notes or something, just that the playing is kind of sloppy in some places, that you didn't stop the previous note before playing the next, or hit two notes instead of one, that sort of thing.

BTW, I like the guitar sound the way it is, nice crunch. Maybe a bit more compression? But that could also easily break it.

Ah, I see...yes I tend to that on bass when I'm playing a run that invlolves some open strings. Something to work on for sure....thanx Ness.

RAMI,

really diggin' this song and the mix...

...what was you setup for the guitars?

Thanks,
Dara

Hey mcmd...thanx alot.

I have a (lefty) strat going into a Yamaha DG STOMP pedal. I run that into the pre-amp of a Peavey Studiomaster and mic the speaker with a 57. The 57 goes through a Focusrite Pre-amp, into the channel strip...and Bob's your Uncle.:)

I forgot to mention that I'm not sure what a plosive is. I'm not sure what you're refering to, NY. :( :D

Good chorus, RAMI. Nice fill back into the second verse, too. ;)

Very cool vocal arrangement.

At 2:51 you are dropping into your last verse - My suggestion is that you record an additional track one fifth above the root note for it's duration. A minor third might work if the note is too sketchy. It really wants to stand out as making a final dramatic point. Good stuff.

Thanx Casey...got the PM and replied.
Good idea on making that third verse bigger with another vocal.

(still don't know what a "plosive" is in this context)

RAMI,
Only downloadable this time - no streaming from RAMI World?

Ray...no, it should stream as soon as you go to my page automatically. Sometimes the player gets mixed up and starts another tune, but 95% of the time, it should be the first tune that plays as soon as you hit my page. If not, in the MUSIC section, there's a music player that allows you to stream. :)
