Ode to Poncho - A [Funk] track for your critique

Hello guys.

I've done some recording with another gentleman that is my mentor so to speak as far as recording goes but this is my first 100% solo, full band recording.

The band is named Mason Grahl. The group is comprised of 2 guitarists, a drummer, a bass player, and a saxophonist. For your listening and critiquing pleasure is a track entitled "Ode to Poncho", do not ask me what that means.

Let me know how you feel about it technically and aesthetically. There is very little post production applied to the recording, mostly just an even mixing. Slight reverb to the drums and sax, EQ on the bass and that is it.

Thanks fellas,
Tom

Hehe, maybe it's the subject that scared people off! :p

Looking from my point of view, sounds like a decent recording, and not a quick and easy task.

Personal taste always leads me to want to comment on mix and content, but I didn't mix/record it, you did. Good job I think.

Being a large fan of Jazz and Jazz fusion, I'd say the music is propably not related to the category in your subject line. To me it's more 70's funk "related". You know, groover's music.

Hey fusion, thanks for your input.

Being only a passing listener of such genres and admittedly knowledgeable, I greatly appreciate your taxonomy.

A good start, I'd love to hear some more from the experts on this board!
