Anyone tried this mic yet? Was thinking of getting a cheap large-diaphram condenser like a Rode NT1 or something, but this happened to catch me eye. I know ribbon mics are supposed to have an excellent transient response ala condensers, but what's the diff between the two? Should I just stick with the Rode?

I'll Put It Like This

The difference between condensers and ribbons are just that... They're different. The similarity is that they both pick-up the transiets very nicely. I've not heard or used the ML19 myself nor have I heard anyone else who has. You should contact Taylor on this.

However, if you do not already have a "decent" condenser, a small diaphragm AT LEAST, then I suggest you get that first; and don't skimp on it either. If you're gonna get a large diaphragm condenser, don't go for the NT-1. Go for the Audio Technica AT4033.

This is simply my opinion.
