Is anyone familiar with this product? I have local supplier who got shipment in sometime ago and the buyer backed out. I compared it side by side to 703 and it's as dense if not denser then the 703. I can buy 2" for $1 sq/ft. I can't find any acoustic specs on it just thermal and fire. Sorry, I'm new here so I can't post the link to OC's site yet for the specs.

I can also get 2" Thermafiber SAFB but it's only 2.5pcf. About $.36 sq/ft
Another supplier has 4" Roxul RockBoard 80 which is 8 pcf for about $1.14 sq/ft

I plan on putting the traps across the corners. I guess with the SAFB I'll have build frames. The Thermafiber is cheaper of all but it's only worth it if it will work.

You want to be as close to 3pcf as possible. There are comparable...Roxul makes something called Safe N Sound which gets very comparable results to OC 703. At half the price, I'd consider the Safe N Sound a bang for the buck steal. Just because the pcf is jacked up there doesn't make it better.

Actually the specs for the Safe N Sound are similar to the Thermafiber. It's also 2.5 pcf. I haven't found Safe N Sound in my area. I read a post somewhere else that said Home Depot carries. Not where I'm at. Sac Cali.

That SCR might work okay but a buck a foot is no bargain. I paid less (96 sq ft for $75) for 703. The 2" Thermafiber is a much better buy and may be just as good acoustically. Home Depot and the other consumer chains are useless. Find a commercial supplier.

That's what I was thinking. I have to buy the lot of Thermafiber from the distributor in my area but this will give me more than enough. But it's still cheaper than the other options and from the specs it's not that much different. Actually I'm thinking of doing 6" instead of 4". I'll have enough to do it.

I didn't look up the Termafiber but yeah, they're pretty similar. Go for it.
