New to the recording scene, using an Mbox 2 with Protools 8, budget is around 350$

I used my friends AKG Perception 200 today and got some decent sound, but it sounded a little muffled in the mid/highs...

I will be using this mainly to record single stereo tracks.

I'm open to 2-mic solutions, but keep in mind my 350$ budget.... if you have suggestions that are a bit beyond that price range, but have better value to them, then by all means suggest it!

Thanks in advance.

In that price range, I've had very good luck with a pair of Studio Projects C4's. For nylon strings, I use both in stereo configuration (coincedent/X-Y) at about 3 feet. For steel strings, I put one in cardioid about 8-12" from the 12th fret, and the other in omni at 3-5'. I usually only use one of them in the end, whichever sounds better. It depends on the player and the room. I'll confess, in spite of a few years doing this, I've never mic'd up a 12 string, so that would be new territory for me. The mics:

I'll definitely take a look at those...

Now I should be able to plug and play both of these into my Mbox 2 and start recording?

(total newbie here)
