I love toxic waste
I just recently switched my software from CEP to Nuendo 1.6. I love the lay out and editing abilities of Nuendo. My problem is, It doesn't take much for Nuendo to start choking. I can probably lay about 8 track with no effects and be ok. When I decide to add effects or any VST instruments, it all starts going down hill. The weird thing is my CPU usage never goes higher than 50%. I'm running a P4 1.6gig with 512meg DDR 2100 on Win XP Pro. My primary sound card is an Echo MIA. I also have an old SB16 PCI card installed since the first revisions of the MIA did not have a MIDI port. Should I think about switching back to 2000 Pro??
Thanks!

I'd hang out at the Nuendo forum...

My old machine was XP Home, AMD 2100, 512, MIA, and I couldn't make it choke if I tried.

There are some settings at fault here I would imagine - I'm just not very good at tracking them down. Search the Nuendo forum (specifically mention 1.6 as N2 is a completely different animal).

o got lets not even think about the cubase forum.. i remember those days..
as for making nuendo 1.61 choke.. somethings wrong.. i never had a problem with 1.61. 2.1 uses way more resources and it hasn't choked once...

it can be anything..
drivers, HD needs to be defraged, you have the audio set to very high(very high tends to mess up) etc

the computer is more than powerful enough to run nuendo.. my first nuendo system was a slot athlon 700 overclocked to 1.2gig with only 256mb of ram..48-56 tracks was no problem for it so 8 on your system shouldn't have a problem... hit up the nuendo forum and lets us know if you get it working right. if not Pm me. i'll see if i can help any.. i've been using nuendo since 1.3

Hey c9-2001, I appreciate the response. I've set this evening aside for nothing but messing with Nuendo. I'll let you know what I find.
Thanks!

Ok, found some really strange stuff. I'll hit play and my composition will begin playing, and as I said earlier it will play maybe the first 5 seconds alright untill it begins to studder and choke. This is the weird part. If I hit play and immediately minimize Nuendo or bring focus to a different application such as task manager, NO STUDDER OR CHOKE!! This confused the heck out of me. Any ideas???
