Hey i need to get 8 songs or so mixed good enough to be able to hear it the same way on basically any stereo...

Right now this song sounds fine on my computer (i don't have any studio monitors). However i notice that my car has way to much bass and lower vocal levels... And other stereos are different...

So If i could get some feedback from your system, thatd be great :)

Mix,remix and do it yet again. There's no secret formula that I know...anyway,the mix is a little bassy, but overall sounded good on my comp speakers. The song is like Metallica meets Tool, not bad.Is this about a chick;)?(hehehe)The only thing I can slam is that the Guitar in the intro sounds a little outta tune. The songs good otherwise,Rock on.

Do you have monitors? If not, if anyone that does have them, could you please listen to the mix?

unfortunately, my recording system is down until I get a new mobo, but it seems like the deep lows of the bass guitar are the problem, try gently cutting from like 100hz down on the bass, probably not more than at about 20 hz 3db. And then try cutting sharply at about 90 or so hz to let the bass drum come through. Its tough tell tell without monitors but that may work.

..even without monitors I can hear the overdrive-crackles - recorded above the peak? also I would add more bass to the vocal to give it bit more power; anyway, this song has power and I would headbang on the metal parts if I would have long hair hehe..
good stuff - hope u gonna post more songs to listen

cheers!

for some reason my post was horribly worded, in case it wasnt clear,

no more than 3db below 0 at 20hz, or "the bottom" on the graphs in most parametric eqs. And a sharp cut, but still probably no more than 3 dbs at about 90hz to let the kick come through the bass .

Im diggin this song man. the chorus guitar sounds mint.. definatly boomy though. Theres a strange crackling before you start whispering.. (the whispering could come up a little, had to strain to hear what you were saying)

This tune rocks though.. Do you have more stuff?

I'm listening on monitors, and this mix has too much low end.

Good Luck,
chris

I like the song, especially the heavy guitar riff..

it sounds like you clipped the piss out of this recording.. It's hard to say if the low end is too much because,

it sounds like you clipped the piss out of this recording..

too much.. too distorted..

*definitely needs a remix*

but it would be worth it..

Thanks for all the replies... I've started to eq a lot of the low end stuff out, and also lower a lot of the volumes to not clip the shit out of the recordings...

And yes I have plenty of other songs.

I'll show this one right now, but the rest I won't post until my copyright thing-a-majig comes in the mail.

One quick note, that song that i just posted doesn't have any of the eq things on it yet. Its just for the people that wanted to hear more of my stuff...

Both tunes really remind me of Tool, especially the vocals and musical arrangements. They both sounded way overdriven, except durring the mellower "clean guitar" parts. I liked the melodies a lot too!!

Were these live drums or soundfont-type stuff? I thought they sounded really good. Were the guitars recorded via a speaker simulator, or did you mic an amp? Did you record the guitars clean or dirty? ...Just trying to figure out why there was so much clipping going on....

Drums are real.... On those songs i ran all the drum mics into a mixer then did a left and right into my preamp which goes into computer through spdif or whatever... But i just recently learned how to record in 4 tracks using my maudio sound card (thought it was only 2 in 2 out, but i guess i was wrong) so i can do the drums seperatly for the most part...

The guitar is a Mesa triple rect. mic'd on a 4x12 cab going into my dbx 386 preamp... I mic it on the cone and i mix it hard left and hard right with the right channel 15 milliseconds late... or .015

Bass is mic'ed into the preamp also... I find bass really hard for me to record or mix correctly... Must be my very weak point.

Vocals is on a groove tubes gt55 into the preamp and then everything else is software effects for mixing...
