man with all this anti NS-10 talk, I just HAD to plug mine back in. I had to switch toa bigger speaker matrix to do it, but I got them up amongst the other speakers now.

Been playing with them for a few hours now, and cant believe just how quickly they are familiar, and what an unreal perfect reference for known translation they can be. I think Im going to switch to an alesis power amp and some crappy cables, to muddy up the waters, and I bet I STILL got some severe predictability. Good thing we bought a LOT of spare woofers for these suckers last year before everyone freaked out. I better cap and fuse em too...oughtta add to the accuracy :)

Wow, i understood none of that... I think its time for me to learn about monitors.

I, for one, have absolutely NO nostalgia for NS-10s. The only thing I think about NS-10s is how happy I am to not be using them anymore.

(Heavy Sarcasm follows) But that is just me, and I hate getting headaches when I mix. Maybe others feel differently. :)

I'm finally getting my rig situated correctly and have great placement for the monitors in the room. I hadn't really listened to the NS10's in a few years so I put on a few CD's.

The first was a best of Rolling Stones because it was sitting there. It sounded pretty harsh and had me worried. But then I put on some good CD's like 'The Wall", "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy", "Wildflowers" and when the CD is recorded and mixed right the detail is amazing. You can always hear exactly where everything is in the mix and I always notice little touches that I never hear in the car or home stereo.

I still don't understand the headache comments. The NS10's certainly aren't more harsh than a typical stage monitor mix or any live music rehearsal situation. Some of you are just wussies :D

I predict a great future for this recording engineer!

Dump the theorie, it's the feeling that counts!

So why are some guys so down on them?

I bought mine in the mid-80s - I was doing some sessions in London and every studio (every one!) had a pair of them.

I've never really listened to anything else to compare, but they seem to work just fine - they are a little bright for my taste, but that's an easy fix (a sheet of toilet paper over the tweet) - what am I not hearing that I could hear with something else?

When you see the 'in-the-studio' interview with the latest 'stars', there is usually a pair on the desk.

. . . if NS-10s are so bad, why are they everywhere?

I was just thinking about NS-10's, and Bill Clinton popped into my head. There are a few similarities..........

Both are either hated or admired, there's little ambiguity.

Both are famous for being very articulate.

Both do their best work on top of a desk

Both had their little problem that was best cleaned up with a little tissue paper.

What can I say, it's a Monday thing.

Now that's funny. I hope you don't mind, but I reposted this on the rec pit, giving you full credit. Funny.
