Flamingo!
This the first song my father and I have ever recorded together. He sung lead vocals and I did the harmonies and everything else.

The electric is slightly out of tune and the click unfortunately bleeds through. What do you all think?

The absurd vocal sort of gets lost in the second part when it's going 'ahhahhahhah'. Also, panned left, it sticks out. Pan it center cuz it's got the center. Which would require you to pan the 'man' vocal left to balance the bvs right. I'd try it. Just to see what it sounds like.

Definitely. The harmonies were kinda hard, as I had to automate them. I really wish Reason had that Reaper function where you can turn up certain parts of the track. Thanks for listening!

This seems a little like compression abuse to me. Across the mix and on the individual tracks. That clean guitar is getting hammered hard. Being out of tune and a little sloppy doesn't help. The backup harmonies are rough and a little too stark and isolated way out left. Main vocals sound good. I think some retracking and remixing is in order if you wanna really do this one up right.

I think your dad did a great job. I enjoyed his vocal and the timbre (is that the word?) of his voice is really very well suited for this tune.

The mix is a little jumbled sounding to me with some BGVs too distinct and separated, and the guitar (is that a chorus on there?) is a little sour sounding I'm afraid.

I love this era of Beatles tunes though and I think it's really cool that you did this with your dad. If you wanted to revisit some parts and the mix I think you could get it much tighter sounding.

:)

Thanks Greg! You pretty much hit the nail on the head with my thoughts. All those things were pretty turdy going in and I tried to polish them. This is my rough track. I'll keep a few things in there like the lead vox and the acoustic and drums. I'm just surprised you even listened to a Beatles tune :D

Thanks heat! Yeah, my dad was well suited for this tune and is the reason why I asked him to do it. It was pretty fun :)

I'll definitely have to retrack.

EDIT: Must spread rep...

I personally think it sounds good for the most part. I think Greg maybe onto something with the Comp abuse suggestion. It almost sounds like you're trying to hard with the backing and vocals to sound EXACTLY like The Beatles version and it's too in time, too on beat and too tight, almost midi sounding. (If you know what I mean, I am drunk though) It need loosening up a touch to give it that feel.

That's all I got. Enjoyed the listen though. Cheers :thumbs up:

What DAW have you used for this? Do you have any tools to get the vocals and harmony in tune with each other? This would be a good track to practice that on. (Sure you could retrack - but don't pass up an opportunity to practice fixing as well.)

Thanks man! I attribute the too in time with drum machine. Don't have my own set, unfortunately :/

It's Reason Essentials. I think the full version has pitch correction. This one doesn't I'm afraid.
