Hi i'm pretty new in here , hope to get some tips and advise before my first recording session.I will be recording a 4 piece Tama standard drum. From what i've read in this forum , i've planned to use this set up for my drum track :

Snare - SM57
Tom - SM57
Tom 2 - SM57
Low Tom - Sm57
Kick - Peavey PVM i520
Hihats - SM 81
Overheads - Rode NT3

Any thing i should know that i'm getting it wrong? Do feel free to correct me if there's anything i should know. Your help will be much appreciated.

Also , i have some confusion on the overhead mic'ing idea. Which method of mic'ing the overhead should i try? I know that A-B spaced pair is commonly used, but yet it often introduces phase problems. X-Y ca give a clearer sound, if so , y does everyone use A-B ?

Also , should i mic the overheads with a distance away from the drums ? ... or ... above the cymbals? a

lso , which height is most suitable to capture slightly more cymbals and the whole drumkit?

Enlighten me! Thanks!
