Novice to recording equipment-studio home

I am just starting out into home recording equipment. I am a musician and want to record my own stuff. What sort of equipment will I need to get started. I have a tight buget , 2 guitars and percussions. I think I will need 4 track or even 8.
Any assistance will be appreciated.

Where are you at in your search? What have you checked into so far?
One of the first things to sort out is the 'one box' systems vs computer/software/built up separates choice.
The DAW route probably has the higher learning curve hassle but more flexible in the long run. Getting up and running faster and getting a taste for for what your in for might make a case for trying the simpler path starting out.
