Nice tune man. Not much really seems out of place to me. Just a good straight up R&R tune. Instruments seem to have a good space to sit, and vocals seem to have a good pocket also. Quite catchy really. I like it, and think you did a decent job of mixing it. You could always try and bring more ooompf to the overall mix, but don't destry the feel of the tune with that.

Nice job man...

this is kind of what I hear this tune as....Ido's Song

It's a bit overe the top, but I would like to hear the vox and solo accentuated a bit. Just my thoughts.

Dogman - thanks for listening. By oompf do you mean more volume or more compression? The volume might be higher but I'm trying to watch for clipping. The average level on my display though looks pretty low in relation to the peaks...Any suggestions to bring up the overall oompf would be great...... :D

Dogman, I just listened to your version. That's got a bunch more punch :D , that's pretty cool - what did you do ?

cool tune but the mix needs alot of work. all the tracks except the vocal and solo guitar sound like the hi's were cut. the vocal just kind flies out and is always well above the rest of the music.

all the playing sounds solid and i like the guitar solo. you have a good voice for this genre of music.

Travis - thanks for taking the time to listen. Appreciate the comments... About the vocals and highs - I'll have a look at (listen to) that.....Thanks!

I'm monitoring with Event TR8N's. I've only had them for a couple of months so I'm still learning how to mix with them.....

Good tune, you got that Clapton thang going on. I will check out Dogmans version in a minute.

I would suggest a wider panning, it all sound too much in the middle or slightly left. The vox is perfect for the tune, excellent job.

For me, it just needs more rockin. The last two you did are nice, pleasant and comforting, This one is the rocker  I think a change in the drums would do that, maybe have a few fills and a slightly more badass sound.

Its a great tune. Once again, you have quite a collection of topnotch songs happening, you should have a nice lil CD.

Ido1957,
Another goodun.
My concern is the cymbal crash - it's pretty way up in the mix & sounds very "wiry".
The solos great - real guitar sounds and none too hurried.
Nifty piece of work.
I'll have to tune in on Dog's take.
Cheers

I just listened to the dog's work. It is significantly punchier. How do he do dat?

Here's another tune I just mixed. I'd appreciate any feedback you can give me about it. It's called Nothing Longer Than The Night.
You can hear it here:

Thanks!

Hey ido1957,

Another unmistakeable ido tune!

I am becoming a real fan of your songwriting style and your vocals.

Nice guitar playing in your solo, I also like the warm fuzzy tone you have on your soloing guitar. I would like to hear a little reverb/delay on the guitar in the solo. The solo is very fitting and tailored to the tune!

I would like to hear the drums a tad more lively, especially the cymbals and the high hat. The snare could also benefit from some increase in the mids.

I enjoyed the tune, and offer these comments as constructive criticism!

Thanx for sharing with us! :)

Gorty

That was simply using a multiband compressor with some simple "Mastering" preset. You could do much better with some eq, and a little compression. I don't know how you mix...software, or hardware? There are many free plugins if you use software. And they seem to work pretty well, for most of my stuff at least.

DavidK - thanks for the listen and the kind words. There are so few tracks but I will see if I can do some panning. Drum recommendations duly noted....
rayc - glad you like the tune. Wiry cymbals are my trademark (lol), j/k....That solo is my strat which I pulled out after hearing some great sounds by others on this board....(*clears throat* RAMI/Gorty)....more drum recs - got it....
Gorty - appreciate the positive words...and the criticisms are always considered helpful (I'm a real newb and can use all the help I can get lol)...

I mix down using hardware mostly....a Triple C Compressor with a "custom" patch, although I've had some good feedback when I used a factory preset too. I've EQ'd with some success "in the box" after that when needed. But that was before I got my monitors going - I find they helped my mixing a bit. I also found there was not so much eq needed after I had some bass to work with too...not to say that EQ can't be used, just that the addition of the monitors and bass is giving me lots to work on for now ;) ....

My software (Sound Forge Studio) doesn't allow for external plug-ins but it has a bunch built in, including compressor and EQ. I'll have to spend more time working with both hardware and software to see what I can do.

You said your remix was "over the top" ;) but it didn't sound bad, in fact no audible distortion to my newb ears...makes me wonder how far I can push my mixes in the future....  Thanks for the mixing help.... :D :D
