Notes recorded to early...

I have a problem with Cakewalk...
When i record the first track after the metronome, and then check piano roll.. the notes are right. But when i record the second track the midi-notes are recorded too early. :(

I dont think that my midi keyboard is a mindreader so i guess that the playback of track 1 is too early.

I dont know if im making myself clear but it is like this...

Has anyone solved any problem like this before?
Please help before i go nuts!

Are you playing back your tracks with DXi/VSTi synths? Because that would explain it rather easy. It's the latency!

Nothing you can do about it then to try to reduce the latency under Options -> Audio.


If it's not latency, then I don't know...
 
I dunno what a DXi/VSTi synth are.. Im using a Korg X5RD.

Well, what is your Cakewalk (what version) ? :) And what did you use for metronome ? I got the X5D also, so don't worry, it's not mind reader... :D

Puh.. i was about to call Scully and Mulder about the module :)
Im using Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.03.
Using Windows XP, with a really good computer and a soundcard from AudioPhiles.

The metronome im using is from the JazzKit in the X5D.
I put the Jazzkit on channel 1 and assign the metronome to that channel.

I really hope you can help me.. cause my hair is starting to fall off. :)

You may want to adjust your latency offset, if it's adjustable...

...but I would think that if you played to the same metronome both times, you'd get the same timing.

So I dunno. Maybe you need to upgrade to Cubase. :D

Well, the thing is that the first track that i record to the metronome is ok. But the second track is way out of beat.

..and one more thing. Sometimes it works, and then gets worse after about 10 minutes. Like if a buffer got filled...
