I do not write music and neither do I play a keyboard. I play the guitar and do it well. Is there any way I could record my guitar in my Cakewalk Pro Audio 8 and have the notation printed just like the MIDI guys do? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You sure can! The answer is the Axon Neural Net Guitar to MIDI converter and the GK-2A hex pickup. The pickup sends six separate analog signals to a signal processor that determines the frequency of each note struck
and the amplitude (how hard you plucked it)
and converts this along with the timing data to six tracks of MIDI data sent along a standard MIDI out line. Roland has a few of these units as well, but they're not as fast and they're not as accurate. There will be a few milliseconds of latency while the Axon converter is thinking, but it's good enough to use in a live session. You can also use the processor to send patch change info based on what string the note was played on, and also where on the neck the note was fretted.
They're a real blast to play.
