All of a sudden when my band will test the mic volume, we'll play for a few seconds and the sound(while recording) will just dropout for aboot 5 or 6 seconds.Idk if it is my mics our something in my computer...How can I fix this?

Anything,

Does the red DROPOUT indicator light up? If so, you may be overtaxing the system. I rarely record directly into the computer, but some info that may help people (and me) help you here would be:

How many mic ins are you recording at once?

What sample rate and bit depth?

Speed/type of processor, speed of the hard drive, type of sound card, version of Cakewalk/Sonar and amount of ram?

It may be as simple as tweaking a few of the audio settings....

Take Care

good questions rjt, but i can safely say if the red dropout indicator is lighting up, its not the mics.

So does it start back up after the 5 or 6 seconds? As noted by rjt, if the dropout alert comes up it is definately pc related. Otherwise, it could be as simple as a loose connection! Be more specific so we can get to the bottom of this!

other info

the indicator doesn't come on..the meter(greeen, yellow, red) goes out..even when on the lowest setting..we only use 1 mic..a dynamic mic..

If the dropout meter isn't lighting it sounds like the signal isn't getting into the PC. As suggested, check your connections..... There might also be a problem with the soundcard.... but it doesn't sound like a Sonar issue.

Good luck.
