Mix thingy

I think I posted this in the cave a while ago. Been refined a bit since. Again, no lyrics. Please tear apart as neccessary.

Cheers

dude, i'm really liking this one too--maybe better than the one you put up a few days ago.

the guitars sound fantastic--excellent sound and performance.

the only thing that's bugging me is that wide stereo field on the canned drums. your programming is good, but that panning is making me dizzy! :)

Very cool stuff, lots of guitar goodness in there. The soft to heavy always works for me. Only thing I would change is the guitar solo..I found myself still listening to the backing ryhthm. Maybe nudge it up a bit or "effectize" it to stand out more. I enjoyed this one mucho.

Thanks. Fair point. I'll have a fiddle around with the panning. I know I often have a tendancy to pan things a little too wide at first.

Thanks :) I kinda thought that too about the solo, but I kept it the way it was because I liked the rhythm guitar, and didn't want the solo to dominate, rather acting more as a garnish. Didn't really like it as much with the solo pushed up. I think thats possibly personal taste though. I might have a jog around with it though. When I was working on it I was having trouble with the solo sounding, reverb-wise too dry in one part and too wet in another. And pushing it up only compouded that, which might have been what made it sound too dominant for my tastes... Maybe some reverb automation might be in order.

I can't add anything that wasn't already said... I really liked it. Yeah, the solo could come up a bit. Why not try adding a bit of delay on it instead of reverb?

legionserial,
This is serially legionary.
I preferred the first 90 sec personally though its all very good.

Instrumentals aren't really my cup of tea.

But as far as instrumentals go, this one's pretty good. I agree the drums could stand to move back to the center a bit.

Shit I liked it. Very cool arrangement. The wild ass drums are a bit distracting, but I have to admit that I kind of got lost in it, and that doesn't happen to me often - especially with such a long song. I typicall get very tired of listening to any song around the 4 minute mark, but I didn't even notice with this one.

I dug it very much. Definitely one of the best compositions I've heard in here.

Not really intended as an instrumental. It's written with the intent of including vocals, however I fear that if I put my voice to it, I'd just ruin it.
