Not hanging absorption?

i guess this is the right forum for acoustics questions.....

so the material i bought to use as back wall absorption is 8 feet long, but nicely doubled over in the middle. i stuck a couple thin wood dowels in between the pieces, and they actually stand up/lean against the wall pretty well....

i'm think about just covering them with fabric and leaving them leaning rather worry about trying to hang them on the wall (with the exception of the 2" rock wool i have for the 1st reflection points on the near walls, that's already hanging).

will this be less effective then if they were hung in the middle of the walls?
i guess they won't be straight in the line of the monitors, but they'll also be covering an extra corner (floor/wall).

make sense, or is this a bad idea?
thanks.

i guess it depends on the material. what is it? ideally you want trapping on the corners of the room as well as to reduce the rear wall reflections when you have a short space.

Hi, thanks for the response.

the material is acoustical cotton, 3.5" thick.

this would just be for the middle of the wall. i used the 5.5" thick version of this material to "super chunk" the corners, so hopefully that won't be a problem....

Nice one! You buy from Brian?

You can certainly hang it like that and it will function fine. Guilfo makes a good point to consider depending on what else you've already done and where your specific problems are.
