I use the event tr-8's. their bass response is awesome as well as the high end. but the problem here is that, i get the full bass when i move back from the listening position. i have the monitors placed less than a metre away from my ears. as i monitor from this distance, the bass is barely visible. but if i walk back 3-4 feet, the bass becomes much more visible.

p.s. should i add more mineral wool on the back wall? i know this won't affect low frequencies, but what about adding bass traps in the four corners of my room?

Bass traps! Sounds like the bass is building up in the rear corners of the rooms, but the waves are cancelling out in the center where you mix.

Thought so...so you think getting/building bass traps will help me get that sound? my room sounds empty... :o

All I can say is that from you're description and from everything I've read on this forum and elsewhere, you have a classic case of a room which needs bass traps.

Agreed. And also probably a shift in the mix position. Sounds like you're also sitting in a broad null.

What do you mean by broad null?

Could i build my own bass traps using 2-3 layers of 2" pink insulation wool?

i think its possible if you crammed about 12 layers in a 4 inch frame, but at that point it would probably be cheaper just to buy the rigid
