I wrote this one a couple of years ago and never made it work with my drum machine.
So I sent my song to nicko1212 and he loved it.
He recorded drums, bass and both rhythm guitars.
I got some preliminary vocal track from my singer and I was supposed to record lead guitar and background vox.
I did not have time so far but I clipped some lead parts from my first version just and adjusted it to nico’s version.
(Lyrics written by my wife)

I appreciate any feedback.
Anyone wants to do the lead vocal????

“Northern Smile” is on the top of my soundclick:

Not enough punch in the intro & the drums sound slightly out of synch there as well. - the lead lines is very Slash.
Remix the intro.
The drums need a cymbal at the tempo change to cover up a slightly rough change.
I think I'd prefer you main shred solo closer to centre.
There's not enough happening to balance it sonically.
The Slashy quieter fills need a little tone adjustment.
The snare is a bit up front for me & there needs to be more thump & less click in the bass drum.
A good beginning mate. Keep at it.

Thank you RayC.
Your remarks are excellent. I guess the others are agreed as well.
The song had no many plays, it's true but I can use your remarks for fundamental set up.
I was not aware about slashy guitar before but now I am.
I’ll consider rewriting it. Never had intention to copy anyone.
See you mate.

There's nothing wrong with the lead lines or the Slash similarities. Interesting accident - I think he uses basically an LP into a big Marshall stack with no effects just vol.
Keep at it - the song'll come together.

OH thanks, RayC
I’ll post it again after the retracking.
Some rearrangements will be done as well.
See you!

Sounding good so far sikter - the only thing I would maybe look at would be to turn the snare down just a tad so it sits lower in the mix. That is a pesonal preference only :D It's a great song - very rock and roll. Great vocals and instruments performance. :D :) :D :)

Thank you Ido,
I really appreciate your comments every time.
Nico records drums using two inputs on his Tascam recorder.
(Several mics to mix board and then line out to Tascam recorder.)
I usually get one stereo drum track from him. Any idea how to fix snare ONLY?
Is that possible somehow using EQ?

I like it. The low end of the gtrs is a bit strong.

Sikter, I've had good luck controling snare level in stereo files sent to me by others by using the Blockfish compressor with the low cut filter engaged so it doesn't see the kick in the signal setting the threshold. I just play with the "response" setting, which is both attack and release, until it starts catching the snare.

Definately I need more simultaneous track recording capabilities:(, so I can record an individual track per mic for my drums.
And for that I really apollogise to my friend Sikter:)

Unluckily, for now, we must settle with a left and right drum track.

I also notice the intro is a bit weak, guitarwise, and we must find a way to make them punchier. I assume the reason for this was that I tracked them using a cheap Asian strato copy with 3 single coils, and a Boss ME30 effects board.
Luckily, the guitar parts can be redone:)
I know have a Digitech RP150 guitar amp modeler, and a new Jackson guitar with 1 humbucker, 1 single coil and a DiMarzio Super distortion humbucker :D

All explaining aside, thanks for your comments guys:)

Sikter, do you want me to retrack the rhythm guitars?

Cheers!

Sorry for late respond!
First of all, I would like to thank Timothy for his time and advice.
I really appreciate and deeply respect your opinion.
I hope you'll be around when I post my first acoustic project.
You have inspired me to start one.

@Nico
I think you did a great job. I have sent you this link just to hold you updated.
This is our project not only mine!
The main reason for bad sound is my mixing skills.

We'll make it right. Let it chill out for a mouth or two.

Don't know how I missed this thread. Glad it got bumped back up.

I think it's a great, straight-ahead rocker. The drums sound way better than I expected after reading through the thread. Snare is a little loud and a bit boxy, but the overall song has a good 70's sound and vibe to it.

I LOVE the guitar solo. I hear the Slash feel, but you're not copying anyone.
