Hi there,

I am total newbe so be patient:)

I am starting to mix some track. I have already done some beats and loops. Do I need to normalize them before starting the mixing? (For example snare -Xdb/kick -Ydb/bass - Zdb). I remember that I found some infos on the net some time ago but I've lost the address.

thanks,

My Opinion

Tetriz,
Normalization can be your friend or worst enemy.
The reason for normalizing is to bring the recorded track (and all its glorious background noise) up to where its highest peak will reach just under clipping.
If your tracks are loud enough to mix to a goodly relationship, don't consider normalizing until you have a finished song. If you have a bunch of really loud tracks you will always be turning the volume on each track way down so you won't be overdriving your stereo mix buss. In fact don't normalize at all if you can keep from it.
My opinion anyway.
