Afternoon Ladies and Gents,

This is my first post here. I have done some reading and already I have a question. Please point me in the right direction if this question has been asked before.

From what I understand MIDI does not translate audio but simple commands, these commands are interpreted through various software suites used for recording ect.

My question is, I have 7 banks of synth that I can utilize on the Nord Lead 3, however when connected through MIDI I am forced to use whatever midi libraries are installed within the recording/editing program, in this case FL Studio 10. I want to know if there is a way I can export my synth library from the nord lead 3 into the recording software in order to be able to choose the same variety of sounds I have on the physical nord 3.

Make sense? I really dont know how else to describe it. I am honestly damn new to all of this. I am sorry if the last paragraph hurt your brain.

Currently running Windows 7, using FL Studion 10, and a UM-One interface (midi) connected to my Nord Lead 3.

If you require any other information please ask.

Thank you for your help.

Cheers,

Todd

I don't know how FL works, but most DAWS will allow you to assign your midi to different devices, including external ones. So you should be able to get FL to drive your Nord (and use its internal sounds), which you can then record by taking the audio from the Nord .

Roger that buddy. I appreciate the reply. I'll take a look into DAWS and their function. Thanks again. I'll report back if it works.

Yeah, you don't have to connect your Nord only by MIDI. I have my Fantom connected both MIDI IN/OUT (in the rare case I want to use recorded MIDI to drive my Fantom sounds) and with Audio out (lots of nice sounds in my Fantom!)

Well I have given up on MIDI for now. I figure I can just use my TRS output B from the Nord and patch it to my presonus firebox. Just gotta get the settings right within the software program and figure it out. Damn thing has beaten me... I am better then you XD

Using the output of the Nord into the firebox should work.

The advantage of using midi in and out is that you can edit the midi in FL (or whatever), then drive the Nord.
