hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm so since i've decided i want to start mixing with actual monitors, i've considered getting some behringer truths. I am WELL AWARE, their are much much better monitors i could get, but i'm mainly focused on these. So if anybody has some experience with these monitors, could you point me to a specific model? thanks

The only ones I've heard that I didn't want to throw into a tire fire were the larger passive models (2031P?). Put a good amp on 'em and they're reasonable. The active models are terrible.

Aren't there TWO of them now? One with a standard dome tweeter and one with a planar tweet?
The latter one sounds interesting for the $.....

Ohhh passive. darn, i was going to go for the active -.-

Gotta be careful with the active models because of Amp issues, I've heard of several of them that have burnt out after 6 months or so, also the frequency response is all over the place, not very good to mix with IMO.

awwwww ok. Guess im going back to my original pkan.... m-audio bx5a deluxe

Much bigger problems from much smaller speakers...

I mix with the 2031A--actives. I've had no problems with the amps, and I've been using them regularly/heavily for 5 years now. You can tweak the low end and high end to get them "flat" in your space, but the space is very important. Mine worked fine for me in a mostly untreated space, but they're that much better now that my space is nicely treated.

And Ska, you should listen to some of Whitestrat's stuff. I also seem to remember Supercreep saying he's used the Behringer's in the past and between the two of them, I don't hear any inferiority in their mixes. Quite the opposite, in fact.
The thing with monitors, as I'm sure you'll soon figure out, is that opinions differ so wildly on pretty much any set. There's experienced ears saying 'this pair sucks and is shittier than shit itself' while someone else will say ' I like them, they're pretty good' and then you hear their music and dig it and so you think, well, who do I go with here ? At the risk of appearing the wishy washy double minded indecisive schizophrenic, I'd say it's truly paradoxical. Neither is wrong for their particular application and only you taking the plunge and trying whichever set out will ever determine which side of the river you'll be on.

Ditto.

I bought them some years ago as an interim measure, fully expecting to move on to bigger and better. However, I've surprised myself by staying with them, and they have performed very well over that period. My clients have not been complaining about the mixes, so something good is happening.

WHOA, i never knew you mixed with these :D so do you still believe i should invest in them?

I just listened to the model with the new style tweeters. They sounded good to me, but a hair dirty, like maybe the amp(s) dont push really clean power. They are half the price of what I was comparing too though.

What were you comparing them too?

Thumbs up here for the M-audio BX5A deluxe if you decide to go that way!
