Unpossible!
OK, so I edit all of my parts in the project window. Don't use lanes or anything. So, I end up with several different takes "on top" in different parts of the song. What I want to do is consolidate that to one take, so I can hit just the up front pieces of all the takes with Variaudio.

Does that make sense?

Thanks in advance.

Kind of makes sense. Don't know what you mean by lanes.... but if I'm understanding you correctly, you have several different clips that make up one track, each clip is edited differently. You want to make one part out of all the many clips in that one track. I'm not sure if there are multiple ways of doing, but I think the easiest is to mixdown and select Import to Track and/or Import to Pool. Be sure to solo just the track you want to consolidate.

Is that what you're talking about??

Yeah, that is what I mean, but there is a way to do it w/o exporting them to a new track. I used to know how to do it, but I forgot. Isn't much of an issue for me, except when applying Variaudio to the track. It only corrects the take associated with clip selected, and not all the "front" pieces.

looks like you could do a partail mixdown of the front section and then a partial mixdown of the back section so that you have 2 tracks, then hit the 1 front mixdown with variaudio..

im not familiar with cubase so I shouldnt even be answering, lol, but I know some programs allow partial mixdowns...

Is Variaudio a plug or standalone. If standalone, can you try rewire?? I'm just guessing now. :o

Yeah, I can mixdown the track, but there is a way to do it w/o mixdown.

Neither. I'ts hard to explain how it works, but it's used in the sample editor. How do you get just the front takes to show up in the sample editor??

Ya know, I just looked up variaudio and see that it's part of Cubase 5. I shouldn't even be talking to you, I'm still on SE3!! ha ha ha

Good luck and have fun.

Yeah, it's a part of 5, but what I'm trying to do was available in all the SX versions at least. I think even SE3 should be able to do it. (not the Variaudio part, but assembling all the front pieces to one take)

I may just have to RTFM! (actually, I did try and find it w/o any luck......)

i cant visualize what you are trying..can you do a screenshot of the project window?

OK, I have three takes assembled in the "front" at different points. I want to combine all the parts that are in front to one take.

im thinking a partial mixdown will do what you want...

mute every track except the one(s) that these parts are on..then on mixdown, just mixdown from 00:00 to whatever point is needed...

then once it is mixed down, you import it into the project as a separate track and you can apply whatever plugin you want to it..

Yeah, that's basically the same suggestion I made. But he's saying there is a way to do it without having to do the mixdown process. I'd love to know how to do that. I'm wondering if it will work the same for punch-ins.

peace.

well to accomplish what he wants I would:

either do the mixdown thing

or

duplicate the track...on one, delete or silence everything before the split point, and on the other, delete or silence everything after the split point

Yes, that is waht I'm saying. it should work for punch-ins. That is essentially what I am doing.

The first suggestion will work, but there is an easier way - I just forgot how to do it. As far as the second suggestion, I'm not sure what you're trying to say. i already edit all of the parts, cut out the dead space, move the desired take to the "front". They play fine. it's just when I want to use the variaudio that it becomes an issue. And, as I said, i know there is a way to combine all the front takes into a single take so that when you pull up the sample editor, it uses all the front clips and ignores the rest.
