Hi I'm new and this looks like a great site.

I have a question. I bought a firewire 410 and a Behringer ultragain pro 8 ADA8000. i'm recording/learning and the 410 is working fine on the 2 inputs and i am moving ahead with that item however in trying to go through the 8 ch adat it does not seem to be interfacing with the 410. I downloaded the m audio updates for the 410. The previous owner said i had to download the "Lightpipe" software for the 410. Does that sound right?? I can't find any lightpipe software.

Also is there any way to test the adat and the lightpipe connector??

You got rooked.

The 410 does not have 8-channel ADAT lightpipe, only 2-channel S/PDIF digital.

The 410 is only 2channels IN and 8 channels OUT.

If you want to use the ADA8000, you'd need something like a Motu828mkII or Motu8Pre that has a true ADAT interface built-in.

Thanks Tim. So my optical connection on the 410 does not mean I can put anything in it. If you have time could you explain s/pdif and what i could plug into the 410. Thanks again. I hope i didn't wreck anything trying to get it to work. K2noob

You need something with spdif out. Spdif is just one the types of digital audio connections.

But i also have optical in/out. Am I looking for a 2 channel device with spdif and or optical??
