So I just moved and before the move my monitors worked fine. Now I noticed a hot electronics smell a week ago coming from my right monitor but no smoke or flames. So I turned it off cooled it down and fine no problems. After that I used it a few times then unhooked it cause I was moving. No smell and no problems. So I move and go to turn this monitor on yesterday and nothing. When I turn it off, the light flashes green and a bit of sound comes out of the woofer thats it. I tried it with a few different cables and in different outlets and all the get the same result. So before I shell out some bucks to get someone to look at it. Any Ideas??

Im assuming that your monitors are powered by the description? So are you just not getting sound or no power either? I guess they have a power light, so is it on or no? If you have power but no sound, check the volume first lol. Also try plugging it into the OUT that your other speaker is hooked to (the one you know is working). If all else, open them up, maybe a wire came loose during the move or something shorted out.
The power cable could be the culprit as well. Try switching the power cables, maybe even the outlet your plugged into. Alot of this stuff is obvious but easily overlooked.

Tried the switching of the cables and outlets to no success. As far as I can tell there is no power. But when I turn it off its almost as if it was on. Its hard to explain. But the green light that wasn't on flashes on and the woofer makes a sound like when ya turn off a working monitor with the volume up and then its off. Its odd. I think I will open it up tonight a take a peak.

Thanks

Geoff

Sounds like the on/off switch might be screwed up. You could try spraying it with elecrical cleaner, just for shits and giggles.

I took a little peak inside the joint yesterday and didn't see any obvious damage. Nothing loose or disconnected. Beyond that I don't really know what to look for. Although now when I turn the monitor on it goes on for like 3 seconds(green light a little sound out of the woofer) and then kaput..I have tried it in every outlet in the apartment and its always the same. I might go look for some electical cleaner tonight. Ya never know what might happen. :)

Thanks

Geoff

Man, if I didn't know better I would say it sounds like a transformer.

More like a protection circuit is coming into play when you turn on.
It could be as simple as the self turn on circuit has got a fault.

Does the Heat Sink still get warm if you leave it on for a few hours?

Hmmm it never stays on it seems so I don't leave it "on". But I will let you know tonight. I am taking it in to the shop tomorrow. I will let you know what he finds when I know.

Well, if the shop can't help, maybe this is your answer .. :D
