my case fan for my stydui pc has being ultra-silent for the past year that i've had it. but now over the course of the past 4 days or so it has gotten louder and is now emitting a whirling zhhzhzhzhzhzhzhzhzhhz sound.

the pc i'm typing on now is identical to my studio pc, and i've had it for a year longer and the fan is still silent. . .

does anyone know any causes/solution to this problem? (short of me replacing it..... or poking around at it and screwing it up?)

Try a bit of 3 in 1 oil on it, right on the axle.

Peel that sticker bakc or pick out the plastic cap and just a drop or two will do it.

If the sticker won't go back on use some duct tape to cover the bearing shaft.

Check your location, dust and humidity factors.

If the bearing is shot, no amount of oil will help it. Buy a new one for $10-$20. But it sure won't cost you anything to put a drop of oil on it if it's not sealed.
