i keep getting noise from my guitar whenever i turn the tone knob up. somtimes i can hear a crackle noise whenever i turn it up or down. would it just be a good to change out the tone pot?

also should i just get a noise suppressor for all the high gain stuff? and any suggestions on noise suppressors?

thanks in advance

Yeah, changing the tone pot will fix it. Or you could try getting some contact cleaner (NOT WD-40! :D) and try spraying it in the pot to see if that gets rid of the noise.

Noise suppressors are always handy to have. I have the Boss NS-2, but I've heard the ISP Decimator could be a slight step up. Really any noise suppressor should do the trick as long as it's not adding to the noise.

If you're getting noise while turning the knob, like said use contact cleaner first. You can get it at radioshack for a few bucks. If you can pull the controls off your guitar (if they are mounted on a plate, like a Tele, or to the pickguard like a Strat), then take it off and spray into the pot itself.

aight cool ill just clean the volume ones too while im at it. its an epiphone explorer.

do i need to take them apart? or just take the knobs off of them?

im gonna look for a used isp decimator. im selling an axe fx and getting like 3 amps and some other stuff with that money lol.

Is there a back plate on that explorer that can be removed to access the controls? You need to get the contact cleaner into the pot itself, spraying onto the knob post won't do much.

Pots are so cheap that I would personally just replace it.

If it help I have both the Boss and the ISP and the ISP is superior especially for high gain applications.
