Hey guys, I'd be very thankful if you helped me a bit...

Here's the problem: I purchased a Scarlett 2i2 on friday because I thought it would be enough since I mainly wanted to sing. The thing is I don't have a decent condenser mic yet so I tried with the old microphone I had (Shure SV100) and I was pretty disappointed when I heard a lot of noise with it. I know both are fairly cheap but here's the question: What's causing that much noise? Is my microphone signal too low or is something wrong with my mic? Is any connection causing that noise? Is something wrong with my interface or does it simply have bad quality pre's? This is weird because I've seen videos using the same microphone or the same interface and they sound pretty decent...

My microphone (set to LINE) is directly connected to the interface and it doesn't have anything else connected to it right now. I also downloaded the latest drivers.

Also some specs:

AMD Athlon II X2 250 Processor 3GHz
Windows 8 Pro

The first one is when the gain knob is set just to 1/4
The second and the third ones are when the gain knob is set almost to the top

Are you using an XLR > 1/4" cable? If so you need to get an XLR > XLR cable and give it another go.

Page 10 of the 2i2 manual:

Focusrite preamplifier stage is automatically configured for a microphone when you plug an XLR into the input, and for a line or instrument when you connect a jack plug.
