noise while recording & need setup advice

Hi,
I'm new to the site and digital recording. I CEP2 I'm getting playback that skips while recording a new track. This only occurred after recording several tracks w/ no problem at all and rough mixing those tracks w/ effects.
Is this a buffering issue? CPU usage, etc?
Also what is the best way to configure CEP2 using XP, an Athalon proc. and 384 megs of RAM?

Sounds like your computer's crapping out when the session reaches a certain size. Buffering changes never did much for me. So, I'd think it's a CPU issue.

You might try locking the tracks with effects so that it dosn't use cpu power to render those effects.

Good idea. I've never run loads of effects in multitrack, but that would slow things down a lot, yeah. Locking the track would take a big load off the CPU.
