OK..this isnt analog noise..its digital.. i have a 900 mhz athlon cpu.. 128 mb..using windows me.. and an aardvark lx6 sound card..
I'm using the cheap DAW that came with it..wich is samplitude project v5.5...now.. i have this static noise when i record..i went through all the stuff samplitude told me to do in the help file..which was..

"Make sure you use the latest driver for the sound card. You might need to contact the manufacturer of your sound card for an updated driver.
Check to see that there are no IRQ or DMA conflicts with other devices in your system. The Device Manager in the Control Panel in Windows 95 might help you diagnose problems.

(windows 95 and 2000 are supposed to have all the same drivers and such..so it should be the same..i think)

The audio caching setting in Windows 95 might need to be adjusted. To do this bring up the Control Panel and select Multimedia from the options. Next, click the Advanced tab and select the Media Control Devices option. In the Media Control Devices look for Audio Control Device and call up the Properties. The following setting can be adjusted to solve some pops and clicks problems.
Some problems with pops and clicks can be solved by editing the SYSTEM.INI file in the Windows directory. Look for a [Vcache] section and add the following lines:

maxfilecache=4096

This should effectively solve the problem. The values for the parameters are Kbytes of file cache and can be adjusted depending on your RAM size.
By disabling virtual memory a problem with pops and clicks or other playback or recording problems can sometimes be solved. Please refer to your Windows manual for instructions on how to disable the virtual memory."

But still i get the pops and clicks..anybody have any suggestions?? ANYBODY!! HUH? HELP ME!!! please

What are you recording (vocals, instrument??) and how are you getting it into your sound card? Describe the setup going into your sound card.

Check the Aaardvark website - they have some comments in the tech support section about certain Athlon motherboards, and I think the main symptom they mentioned was noise.

Could be the problem.

OK..I am inputing with a 1/4" balanced line at +4 dbu..analog.... recording at 44.4100khz.....I checked to see if it was in the wave file and it is...then I checked to see if maybe my cable was messing it up.. I dont think it is...

I did check the aardvark web site... I do have the right chip set ,,,so that shouldnt be a problem... Hmm I dont know.. maybe this windows me..has some other caching that needs to be messed with ,,I've looked all over...

what do you think? any suggestions...
