i have been trying to dump some particularily rare tapes onto my hard drive, as they cannot be replaced and the tape is not going to last forever. Whenever i recrod with a mike or even run the radio through my computer, the sounds is clear. However as soon as i turn on the tape, it generates a loud magnetic hissing or interference. i assume since the setup is exactly the same for radio and tape (same ghettoblaster) that the problem isnt my cord, card, driver, etc... Is there some trick i can use to reduce this effect? i tried running through an amp instead of direct to the soundcard (thinking it might filter or something?) but it didnt help.
