i've been getting a strange noise from my tascam. anyone encountered this?
it sounds like a band or tape stretching, maybe a squeaky gear or something. i only hear the sound (which doesn't affect recording or playing quality) when playing or recording, never when fast forwarding or rewinding the tape. if it's making the noise while playing, and i hit pause, the noise stops, but starts again when i un-pause the machine.
when it starts to make the noise i'll stop it, then press play again. usually, if i do this a few times the noise will stop.
i've taken the back cover off and see nothing out of place, worn, or damaged.
i would love to hear advice from anyone regarding this. what could it be???
