My name is Paul and I currently record voiceovers and radio station voicetracks using my home studio.

I run Adobe Audition CS5.5, have a behringer mixer and a rode NT1-A, I understand the behringer mixer can add a little noise, but I'm pretty much stuck with this setup for now, so just want some ideas of how I can best reduce the noise floor when recording.
My home studio used to be a little booth with rockwool panels on each side and acoustic foam on the ceiling, but the wife has told me it looks a mess, so I've had to redesign which has created a little more noise.

Basically, I have a noise floor of around -65dB with the mic closed, and around -55dB with the mic open. I have tried using the Audition noise reduction tool but this unfortunately sounds pretty bad, does anyone have any other suggestions?

I have attached some quick audio files, one with the mic closed, and one with the mic open, so you can hear the type of noise I'm dealing with.
Again, I'm not really looking to get any new gear at this stage, just looking for some general ideas, whether it from plugins etc.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul
