the m audio 2496 is a legacy product. and my OS is windows 10. there isn't an available driver for it on the m audio product page. does this mean i can't use it in ableton 'cause it's not "seeing" it.

I put W10 on an HP desktop a few weeks ago and the incumbent 2496 worked I am sure but did not get time to really check it out.
Unfortunately I have now rebuilt the PC for a grandson sans 2496 (he would not have a fekkin' clue!) . I find W10 bloody awful to navigate but I think you still have Device Manager and so could try "update driver"? If necessary disable the OBS card (Realtek?) which might force W10 to find the 2496 on boot?

BTW I now have a spare 2496 and am open to offers!

Dave.

hey thanks for the reply. i've been linked in another thread a possible fix in downloading the last windows 7 driver. this comes from an m audio employee, so it should work but if it doesn't this is another possibility.

i'll post back if whether or not it works.

the last windows 7 driver for the 2496 does work in 10! one step further now!

Great! I have just remembered. Some years ago when I moved from XP 32 to W7 64 I dldd the W7/64 driver on the XP machine and lobbed it over on a stick. ALL SORTS of mayhem ensued and I bollocked Msoft, W7. and M-Audio severally and well! THEN, I tried downloading the W7/64 driver on the W7 machine?....Ran like paint!
